There is a lack of affordable extra care places to cater for older people in Whitby.

As part of our plan, we will provide a site for an extra care home where older people will be able to live independently for longer.

Extra care homes provide a blend of independent living with the option of warden assistance or domiciliary support. Extra care also offers communal facilities for residents - such as restaurant, hair salon, shop etc. Couples where one partner requires assistance can benefit greatly from this kind of accommodation whilst maintaining a level of independence.
